In today’s economy it is more important than ever for manufacturing companies to find ways to save money and control cost. Vendor Managed Inventory systems (VMI) and Vending Machines are two excellent ways to reduce many costs. Focusing on inventory provides many opportunities to realize savings and add value (and dollars) to the bottom line.
Vendor Managed Inventory systems can look at stocked items and control inventory levels with “min-max” quantities based on lean manufacturing principles. Stock levels are kept within a one to two week level thus reducing inventory carrying costs. VMI also allows freight and cost center reporting with manufacturing companies to be reduced. In addition, Vendor Managed Inventory can eliminate many functions brought on by inventory acquisitions and offer production line management down to each work cell.

The newest program for tool room management is “Vending Machines”. These type of industrial vending machines can jump start your savings. The machines can be free based on volume of usage a company consumes. The vending machine comes with software that gives full reports down to each employee’s consumption and usage of parts. You can reduce time searching for parts and tools while maintaining an accurate inventory. Manufacturing companies can stock tools, cutting tools, hardware, safety products, fasteners, welding supplies, office supplies, metal fabrication supplies, general MRO supplies, first aid and shop supplies. www.theindustrialdepot.com
If your company is looking to increase profit, Vendor Managed Inventory or Vending Machines can be the pathway to control consumption, shrinkage, develop real time reports and automate ordering. The reports can track usage by work cell, work group, project and employee.
The Industrial Depot has been working with Vendor Managed Inventory programs and can help your company look at cost savings for your production process. The systems we implement within manufacturing companies can start with a simple work cell stocking program. This includes every product having a specific “labeled” place. The label scans providing information on min-max levels and advanced software gives the capability to order via the internet with scanners.
If you are interested in getting your company started in saving money on inventory, call or email us for a meeting to review your companies’ needs for fasteners, hardware, tools, cutting tools and shop supplies.
